Preventative maintenance

Annual Dock Equipment and Door Maintenance

We are committed to making your shipping operations run smoothly.  Without regular maintenance, loading docks and door equipment will break down over time.  Our comprehensive Preventative Maintenance checks will help keep repair bills down, extend the life of your equipment, and help prevent unwanted downtime.

Fire Door Drop Testing

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards require building owners and managers to have their rolling and sliding fire doors inspected and tested annually, and to maintain written documentation of such inspections. Direct Dock & Door's Fire Door Drop Test program can ensure that  building owners and managers stay in compliance with the most recent NFPA 80 standards, while maintaining the proper operation and full closure of your facility's rolling and sliding fire doors.

Loading Dock OSHA Compliance Review

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has regulations for loading dock safety, including fall protection.  Direct Door & Dock can help you assess your OSHA readiness for loading dock safety and provide cost-effective solutions to ensure that your organization is in compliance.

OSHA Fall Protection Requirements

  • Ensure docks are equipped with guardrails, harnesses, or other barriers to prevent falls
  • Install barriers that meet OSHA fall protection standards for docks higher than 48 inches
  • Maintain a safe distance from the edge of the dock

FDA and FSMA Requirements for Food Handling

Direct Dock & Door technicians can help ensure that your shipping area is in compliance with FDA and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) requirements.  The FSMA requires that food is transported safely and without risk of contamination. This includes ensuring that loading docks are designed to prevent damage to shipments and keep pests out.

Loading dock design

  • Separate traffic: Use barriers and guard rails to keep foot and vehicle traffic in their own lanes
  • Prevent damage: Use shelters and seals to protect shipments from the elements and pests
  • Consider weather: Choose shelters and seals that can withstand the weather conditions where the dock is located
